Got It? Spend It! The Pinnacle Race Course For Thoroughbreds.
Thoroughbred horse racing came alive in New Boston, Michigan Friday July 18, 2008 when Pinnacle Race Course opened. The opening day back up had the local police routing traffic away from the direct entrance to the freeway towards the end of the day. A half hour past post time found cars parking a bout three quarters of a mile from the track! The plans were ready and when work started in April it seemed like a big gamble to pull off for the July 18th opening date. But work moved ahead real fast as these pictures from May 29 to July 18th show. May 29 the foundations for the clubhouse may have been poured but nothing is visible other than the grading of the drainage ditches.
By June 17th the roof was on the clubhouse and about eight barns were framed.
By the morning of opening day four weeks latter, fifteen barns, the track and clubhouse were ready to go! When the job fair that attracted thousands was held in late May, it was difficult to picture the work that happened the next six weeks. Here are a few shots to show what forty million plus dollars can do. Opening DayJune 17th construction progress. The main entry at Prescott Road.
